JAPANESE SHIKOKU PUPS
The first UK litter of Shikoku Inu puppies born 31/12/2024.
2 females
2 males
A full litter of 4 beautiful pups.
The litter is bred by both of our Shikoku family dogs, unexpected but welcomed. They both have excellent lines and come from an expert breeder in Italy.
Sire (Major) is a working gun dog and family dog, and Dam (Luna) is our family dog.
Both dogs come from a very loving home with children.
They are immaculatly behaved, and we have spent a lot of time training both of our pets to be the perfect family dog. Both have brilliant temperament and character. Both mum and dad can be seen.
It is important they go to the best homes. It is vital that buyers go through a vetting process and fill out an application form. We can then start communication so we can find out more about you and vice versa.
we we will only allow these pups to go to the best homes where we know for certain they will be loved unconditionally.
This is the first UK litter and so very special to us as a family and the breed as a milestone in history. These can be reared as working dogs, to which they specialise (being Japanese hunting dogs), or solely a family pet to which they fit the bill just perfect.
If you are interested please do get in contact.
It is important to understand that this breed requires an active lifestyle. They require exercise, and a working home would be ideal. The breed is very intelligent, loving, and loyal but can be stubborn. The more you put into these dogs, the more they put out, so a desire to train them is a must.
Shikoku are a primitive breed and considered the most primitive of all the Japanese breeds, remaining largely unchanged for years and being the closest to the now extinct Japanese wolves. They were used to bay Deer and boar, so have a high prey drive and are not afraid to try and put that to the test. Being a primitive breed you can expect dominating behaviours if other dogs try to test them (barking, growling, lunging, watching, posturing).
The breed is currently not recognised in the UK due to their rarity. However, other kennel clubs around the world do recognise them (Italy, America etc), as such, these are not KC registered litter. however, full pedigree will be provided, and there are a number of show dog champions in both lines going as far back as c.80s.
please ask as many questions as you can if interested as a better understanding of the breed is only a good thing.
