Forever Rottweiler

Looking for a loyal first-rate protector and gentle playmate?

Then cute Rottweiler puppies could be your answer.

This gorgeous large breed has a striking appearance standing up to 69cms tall and weighing up to 60kg! So, with such a powerful pooch, they’re often recommended as pets for experienced or confident owners.

To be well adjusted dogs, they will need to be socialised from a young age. Combine this with positive reward-based training and they’ll make calm, courageous and confident canines.

Did you know?

Rottweiler dogs often think they’re lapdogs and will climb up onto their owners’ laps for cuddles.

Rotties are an intelligent breed who will need mental and physical stimulation to keep them from getting into trouble. It’s usually recommended to give them around 2 hours of daily exercise.

Do Rottweiler’s shed?

Although they have short and smooth coats, Rottweilers are known to be shedders. This is down to the fact that they have a ‘double coat’.

Double coats are perfect for keeping your pooch warm in Winter and cool in Summer. The seasons where temperature starts to change are when you can expect the most shedding (Spring and Autumn). So, you’ll need a good hoover!

Did you know?

They nearly became extinct in the 19th century! With roads and railways being built, their job as a cattle herder became redundant.

Are Rottweiler’s working dogs?

They have a long history of being used as working dogs. They are thought to have originally assisted armies in the Roman Empire, protecting them as they crossed the Alps. This protective nature is part of the reason why the breed is still so popular in 2021!

Did you know?

In 2009, a Rottweiler dog was recognised by the RSPCA for bravery after saving a woman from being attacked in Coventry Park. Jake chased off the man before leading his owner to the woman and standing guard until police arrived.

The ‘Rottweiler’ name actually originates from a German city (Rottweil) where they helped the local butcher’s dog by pulling cards laden with meat.

Modern day, they are part of the police dog K-9 unit and even as therapy dogs. In 2015, a Rottie named Wynd was awarded the ‘Best Therapy Dog’ by the American Kennel Club. Wynd helped provide therapy for military personnel suffering PTSD and addiction issues.

Overall, it isn’t hard to see why the breed has been loved by British dog lovers.

Although, be warned, they are known to have the potential to snore very loudly. So you might want to stock on earplugs!
