Puppy Pet Insurance Guide
Choosing a good pet insurance policy will help when unexpected vet fees crop up over your dog’s lifetime.
Vet bills can be costly so taking out an insurance policy is the best way to be prepared for any big bills.
The important thing is to do your research and choose a policy that is best for you.
There are 4 main types of pet insurances:
-
Lifetime
This is one of the most comprehensive types of cover you can get. It involves you paying a premium every year during your pet's life. Subject to conditions, the insurance should continue regardless of age.
-
Annual (limited time)
This is insurance that is provided on a rolling basis every 12 months. The benefit is you can switch to a cheaper policy next year if you choose. However, these can be less comprehesive and do not usually cover pre-existing conditions.
-
Accident Only
The lowest form of insurance cover available. It merely covers accidents not illnesses.
-
Per Condition
This is sometimes called 'maximum benefit' - it will provide a fixed sum to treat each injury/illness as long as the policy is still in place.
